Echo in Slumber
wrecked I wept in my bed
a sanctuary, my beloved
within its confines I am ether
trudging along a ruthless winter a shimmer, a sparkle, a glistening
a distant voice called out from within
blessed be the one without redemption
“stars” said I, for it I have no explanation that voice I asked will I be saved
a sliver of hope within me got engraved
alas It answered in yet another mystery
within your confines, life's tapestry I reeked of frustration unable to make head or tail
the house of cards about to fail
just when I felt its presence go
realised it was mere an echo cement rained on me from the heavens
a dark nothingness, swallower of suns
still weeping on my bed I had not the time to fight
this is it…this is the day I become fire and burn bright the cement on me turned to stone
its weight crushing, I couldn't move a bone
just my eyes allowed to breathe
not long either soon they'll also sheathe
my lungs too crushed under
air escaping them, torn asunder crawling under the surface a snake
I feel it coming closer to my nape
unable to move a muscle
why does it even matter for I won't tussle constricting my neck the snake took round
unable to breathe I could utter not a sound
from the corner of my eye I saw god wink
just when my body became limp
a sanctuary, my beloved
within its confines I am ether
trudging along a ruthless winter a shimmer, a sparkle, a glistening
a distant voice called out from within
blessed be the one without redemption
“stars” said I, for it I have no explanation that voice I asked will I be saved
